The shop

A butchery, run by a butcher.

De Bauchery sits on Kiripaka Road in Tikipunga. It is a working shop with carcasses being processed out the back each day. The emphasis has always been on good quality, great service and customer satisfaction.

Nick and the team handle retail butchery, homekill and recreational catch for households and lifestyle blocks right across the Whangārei area, and make the smallgoods in house. If you want to know what is in your sausages, you can ask the person who made them.

  • Locally owned and on the tools. Same friendly faces processing your meat every week.
  • Your cut sheet, your cuts. Nothing gets decided for you and everything is labelled.
  • Smallgoods made on site. Sausages, bacon, salami, pastrami, ham and black pudding.

Good questions

Before you ring the shop.

The things people ask us most about homekill, game and the counter. Anything else, give us a call on 09 437 0843.

How do I book a homekill?

Ring the shop on 09 437 0843. Tell us what you have, roughly what it weighs and when it will be ready, and we put you in the book so the chiller space is there when your animal arrives. See how homekill works for the full process.

What does homekill processing cost?

Guide rates are $2.50/kg of carcass weight for beef, $60 for a lamb up to 30kg and $80 for a lamb over 30kg. Sausages start from $6.99/kg. All prices include GST. Boning and rolling, whole carcass work and vacuum packing are priced on the cut sheet, and your final invoice comes off the actual carcass weight and the cuts you choose, so ring the shop for a firm number.

What is a cut sheet?

The cut sheet is where you decide everything: steak thickness, roasts, boned and rolled, mince, sausages and vac packing. Download the beef, sheep or pig cut sheet from our website, or ask the team when you book. It has to be completed and signed before we start cutting, and everything comes back labelled.

Do you process wild game?

Yes. Deer, pig, goat and your recreational catch can all be processed here, and we can turn it into steaks, mince, salami and sausage. Ring first so chiller space is ready, and bring it in cool, clean and as soon as you can.

Can I order from Out the Farm Gate and collect from you?

Yes. We are the Whangārei processing partner for Out the Farm Gate and growers including Wild Meadows, Black Silver Wagyu and Little Creak Farms. Order from the farmer and collect from us in Tikipunga.

Do you make your own sausages and smallgoods?

Yes. Our sausages come in a variety of flavours, alongside smoked bacon, ham, salami, chicken, pastrami and black pudding. Everything is hand-crafted and made in store.

Can you cut meat to order for an event?

Yes. Whole cuts sliced thick or thin, a specific-sized roast, or sausages for a weekend BBQ or a large event such as a birthday, wedding or tangi. Get in touch and we will prepare what you need.

How do I collect my order?

We ring when it is ready and you collect from 169 Kiripaka Road, Tikipunga. Bring chilly bins or an empty boot, because a half beast takes up more room than people expect.

What are your hours?

Give the shop a ring on 09 437 0843 for today's hours, or check the latest on Facebook. After hours, email the shop and we will come back to you.
